Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Associate to play a leading role in the origination, execution, and management of private equity investments. This position is ideal for a candidate with advanced research capabilities, deep financial expertise, and a nuanced understanding of African markets. The Senior Associate will support and guide deal teams, contribute to the firm’s thought leadership, and engage with key stakeholders. This role will be instrumental in shaping investment theses, identifying market trends, and guiding strategic decisions across sectors aligned with the firm’s development and impact objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Investment Origination & Execution
Lead proactive deal sourcing, transaction structuring, due diligence, negotiation, and execution across targeted sectors and geographies within Africa.
- Market Intelligence & Sector Research
Conduct macroeconomic, sectoral, and policy research to identify high-impact investment opportunities and assess the strategic positioning of potential and existing portfolio assets.
- Valuation & Strategic Decision Support
Deliver accurate company valuations, data-driven insights, and prepare investment memoranda, research papers, and board-level presentations to support investment decisions.
- Stakeholder & Market Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with LPs, co-investors, DFIs, regulators, and portfolio companies. Represent the firm at conferences, thought leadership forums, and key stakeholder engagements.
- Internal Collaboration & Capability Development
Work closely with internal teams on market entry strategies, portfolio development, and value creation initiatives. Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to Analysts and Associates.
- Fundraising & Investor Relations
Support fundraising activities from African pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and networks, contribute to investor reporting, and ensure alignment with investor expectations and regulatory compliance.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in investment analysis, research, or financial services, with demonstrable experience across African markets.
- Proven track record in equity valuation, policy analysis, and economic research.
- CFA Charter holder with strong data analytics capabilities.
- Familiarity with risk management frameworks and regulatory landscapes in Africa.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

- Deep understanding of the African investment landscape, including regulatory and macroeconomic dynamics.
- Experience in both listed and unlisted equity analysis.
- Exposure to consulting or advisory roles in investment strategies in Africa.
- Passion for unlocking value and driving development in African markets.

- An entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with fluency in English.
